Our Privacy Policy
Debt Reduction Center knows that your personal privacy and the security of your personal data are crucial to a successful online experience. With the added sensitivity of handling personal financial data, we understand your concerns. That is why we feel that it is necessary that you are made aware of the type of information we may collect on our web site, and what we do with that personal information.

Sharing Policy
First, you should know that Debt Reduction Center will never, under any circumstances, sell or share any personal information about you to or with any person or organization except as authorized by you, to our authorized agents, the credit counseling agencies in our network, your current creditors, or as may be required by law or court order.

Information We Collect
There are a number of areas within the Debt Reduction Center site that collect personal information. This information is required to receive membership to the Debt Management program. We collect personal information for a number of reasons. Here is a breakdown…

During the online enrollment process, we collect a wide variety of personal financial data. These are:

  • Debt Information (Credit Card / Loan Account Numbers & Balances)
  • Personal Information (Social Security Number, Address, Phone, Email, Salary, Pay Period, Employer, Occupation)
  • Demographic Information (Age, Birth Date, Gender)
  • Budget Information (Assets, Monthly Expenses, Other Income)

This information is stored to use in enrolling users in a debt management program. Debt information is used to qualify the user for the program and to make payments on the user's behalf. Budget information is collected to provide the user an overview of where their finances are spent. Data for users who fail to complete the online enrollment process is persisted for internal analysis and auditing (aggregate analysis only).

For current customers, our online customer service registration verifies users by collecting:

  • Social Security Number
  • Birth Date
  • Last 6 Digits of any Account on the program
  • Desired password

Only password data is stored to verify users. To determine how much usage our Internet receives per day, we track when users log into the site. The tracked information is only used on a per-client basis when auditing to determine when clients experience trouble with the site.

Additionally, our web servers capture specific user information such as IP Address, browser specifications, referring URL, etc.

Accessing/Changing Your Information
Current customers can view/change their personal, contact and occupational information by selecting the PROFILE navigation link within the Current Customers section, or by contacting Customer Service at 1-800-699-5688. You may also change your debt or budget information by contacting Customer Service as well.

Deactivating Your Account
If a user wishes to deactivate their account and no longer receive communications from us, they can contact customer service at 1-800-699-5688.

Security
Data security is a primary concern of Debt Reduction Center, and we have taken a number of steps to ensure that your personal data is secure. First, all areas of our site that collect sensitive information utilize Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) encryption to protect your data. This system ensures that your data is going to our servers, and ONLY our servers, by encrypting all network traffic between our machines. (This system also verifies that we are who we say we are through the use of digital certificates.) You can read more about SSL at Verisign. Second, all data is stored on separate database servers behind our corporate firewall. No personal data is ever stored on our web servers. Third, sensitive information is also encrypted within our database, to ensure internal security as well.

Cookies
Cookies are small files written by browsers to store information on a user’s computer. Our site utilizes cookies to make many services available for our users. We use two types of cookies. A Session Cookie is used to establish session information. The information is not written to your hard disk, and is deleted from memory once your browser session is completed. A Persistent Cookie is used to tag individual users to do traffic analysis on anyone who starts an application. This allows you to finish a partial application. Please be aware that if you set your browser to reject all cookies, you will not be able to access the secured areas of our site.

Public Forums
Currently we provide live help through chat sessions. For your protection, any information that is disclosed in these areas is secured, considered confidential information, and is not for public disclosure.

After this agency receives your information, they may contact you directly via phone, email or other communications. All of our associated credit counseling agencies comply under federal and/or state laws and regulations which govern privacy of personal information.
